Canyonlands Utah
Canyonlands is part of the region called the "Colorado Plateau" which stands high above the surrounding landscape.
The Green and Colorado rivers began carving this geological "layer cake", exposing buried sediments and rock into this seemingly endless wonderland of cliffs and gorgeous painted canyons.
However, the rivers aren't the only force of erosion. Spring and summer thunderstorms bring heavy rains that scour the landscape eating away at the layers guided by the finger of God as softer layers give way to His desired outcome. Layers erode exposing harder rock walls, giving the canyons their stair-step appearance. Occasionally, a slab of harder rock will protect a weaker layer under it, creating balanced rocks and towers. When standing above this majestic work of art... The presence of God can truly be felt.
